Huge thanks to all the Teens that made it to the T.A.G. - Muppets + Christmas = WOO!! Event on Friday night - it was a great time!

You can see that there was quite a bit of creativity in the graham cracker 'Christmas' craft - but whatever makes them happy - right?

T.A.G. has LOTS of plans already for 2011 - so visit soon and see what T.A.G. is doing in the New Year!

Holiday Party for Teens!

It is time for T.A.G.'s Annual Holiday Party for Teens!
All teens are invited to come and watch Muppets, create art and make delicious graham cracker houses!
Thanks to the Friends of the Library for providing all the food & beverages!
The downstairs doors will open at 6:30 - so Join T.A.G. for this teen event at the Library.

Art in the Afternoon!

T.A.G. is once again hosting a WonderFuL, New,
Art in the Afternoon Craft Event!
Join T.A.G. in creating beautiful boxes and bows from new and recycled materials. This event is open to folks ages 8 and up, so everyone can learn some new skills that could be very useful in the coming holiday season!

Not-Quite-Halloween Party FUN!

The Not-Quite-Halloween Party was a HUGE HIT! Folks decorated pumpkin shaped cookies -

Quite creatively as you can see!Lots of folks participated in the different costume contests

The judges did an excellent job!

Everyone eagerly awaited the verdict!

And after all was said and done everyone had a really good time!

T.A.G. is going to return to our Art in the Afternoon craft series in November, look for news about that in a week or two! And T.A.G. is planning our big holiday party in December too!

T.A.G.'s Halloween!

T.A.G. is planning a party!
Ketchikan teens are invited to come in costume to watch Scooby Doo, decorate cookies and maybe even win a prize!
The doors will open at 6:30 and treats will be provided by the Friends of the Library and T.A.G. members!!

New READ Posters!

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Watch A Banned Book Movie Night!

We have plans for a great Halloween party at the end of the month

But until then - enjoy these great new READ posters!

Join T.A.G. in Celebrating the Freedom to READ during Banned Books Week by watching two Banned Books (in their movie form)- Matilda & James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Both books have been banned due to their "appalling" disrespect for adult figures!
Enjoy movies, food and some Games with Austin TOO!!
Doors will open at 6:30.

The Summer is but a memory and T.A.G. is now planning events for Banned Book Week (September 26 - October 2nd) and Halloween! They are so ahead of the curve!

End of Summer Fun

The End of the Summer Party was a great time!
There were lots of games and prizes!

We got the cart that T.A.G. members 'pimped' for a contest years ago out and the battery still worked, so we had music too.

All in all it was wonderful - though folks got into their prizes sooner than expected!

I would like to thank all the folks who made the Teen Summer Program possible - especially the Friends of the Library and all the T.A.G. members who put lots of time and energy into making this years program great!

School is gearing up soon, and we are bidding goodbye to several members who are heading off to College - we will miss them, but wish them well. Once T.A.G. has a chance to take a deep breath and figure out what they want to do next we will be back!

Friday night T.A.G. invites all Ketchikan teens to join in watching the movie August Rush and then continuing the 'Sound Waves' theme with some personal percussion!
T.A.G. also invites folks to the final Poetry with Godzilla Workshop - Splash-Tastic!

Join Godzilla in a 'investigation into 'the language of poetry'
Both events will be fortified with delicious snacks provided by the Friends of the Library!

Makin' Waves Movie Night 2 - the Sequel!

T.A.G. is nearing the end of the Teen Summer Program, but we have a few more events before the final party - this one for instance! T.A.G. invites all Ketchikan teens to join us for this excellent movie and a percussion circle!
This event earns two stamps on the TSP card - so come and get some stamps and enjoy the program!

Relay for Life - Team Kraken

This is T.A.G.'s Team Kraken (at about 11:00 p.m. Friday)
They walked (as a relay team) for the full 18 hours of the Relay for Life and raised over $500.00 for the American Cancer Society!!
Anyone who thinks negatively about teens should think again, because these folks are AMAZING!
T.A.G. will be getting back to the Teen Summer Program as soon as they catch up on a bit of sleep so come back soon for more T.A.G. news!

T.A.G. News

First I would like to thank Godzilla for yet another amazing poetry workshop!
It was an excellent evening of creativity.

Next T.A.G. will be participating in Ketchikan's first ever Relay for Life. This is a American Cancer Society fundraiser and awareness raiser and T.A.G. members will be 'Relay-ing' starting Friday at 6 p.m. and going on through Saturday at Noon! We will also be hosting a booth and selling goodies to raise more money for this great cause!
After an 18 hour event like the Relay we will be taking a bit of a break, but the Teen Summer Program is still happening, so come back soon for more news and T.A.G. events!

Poetry Tonight!

Join Godzilla tonight for an evening of poetic literary devices and lovely snacks!

Tea's Over, Pirates Next!

Thanks to our Lovely Hosts, Morrisa and Jasmyne, Tea by the Sea was quite a delightful time!

Indeed - TAG invites all the teen pirates of Ketchikan to join them for a night of pirate-y fun! With games and food and treasure chests full of prizes!

Recycling fun - next is Tea!

T.A.G.'s Next Event for the Teen Summer Program is Tea by the Sea - as you can see by this poster, but I also wanted to share with you all some of the amazing creatures that were created at the ReUse Recycle Robots event Friday night.

As you can see the robots are all quite creative & got home safely!!

HUGE THANKS to Katlyn, Amelia & Jasmyne for making this an amazingly fun event - I had a wonderful time!

More Fun at the Library!

Makin' Waves Movie Night was TONS of fun - thanks to Amelia and Jasmyne's Improv Games! But we've got another event comin' up quick! So bring in YOUR recyclable materials (all cleaned up and ready to go) Friday night and create amazing Robots or Art! TAG will supply the glue, tape, wire and more to put your masterpiece together. See you there!

Movie & Improv Night!

T.A.G.'s next Teen Summer Program event is happening Friday! Ketchikan teens are invited to join T.A.G. for a movie and lots of great improv games! Snacks will be provided by the Friends of the Library! There will be a special drawing for folks in the Teen Summer Program and this event earns TWO stamps on the Teen Summer Program card, so join T.A.G. for an evening of fun, food and prizes!

Godzilla Rocked!

Godzilla rocked a full house of teens on Tuesday night - this, the first of three poetry workshops.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the poetry, the work, and the goodies provided by the Friends of the Library!

Join "Godzilla" for a poetry workshop!
The 'Muse of the Sea' will be sharing ideas on how to start writing poetry - including brainstorming, free writing and getting inspired.
This Teen Summer Program event is hosted by the Teen Advisory Group and is worth two stamps for folks participating in the TSP!

Fun at the Beach Party @ the Library

A bunch of teens came to the kick off party for the teen summer program! They enjoyed lots of food, got signed up for the program and even played some improv games!

And this is only the beginning - later in the week we'll be posting the next event so come back soon!
